Northwest School of Design at Pilchuck

In 1877 Helen Rowe Metcalf dreamed a dream and then, with the assistance of 34 members of the Rhode Island Women’s Centennial Commission voting to invest their group’s surplus, created the Rhode Island School of Design.  Pilchuck Glass School could do the same today as all the land necessary exists at the corners of Exit 215 and zoning is soon to be determined.
